CONTINUING TO DEVELOP MY THEORIES & PHILOSOPHIES!

Directly from Liam Ian.

As I’ve taken time to ponder over the Artwork we’re striving to create, I’ve also had to mull over what its all supposed to mean in this modern world with all the current and modern issues of the day. Racism and an oppression of Brown people in America. The dismantling of democracy within a place that had its beginning in the enslavement and degradation of others. The rise of technologies running parallel with the apparent rise of fascism and authoritarianism. The reversion of African American progression within American society with an almost equal distortion of progressive principles and values. I’ve been pondering over these things.

Today I stand ready to continue the journey and endeavor of creating—creating with purpose and meaning. the mission isn’t just to create but to create with conscience and intention. A reflection of who we are as Black and Brown People and a blatant concern and interest for who should become into and for the future.

INTELLIGENCE. ETHNICITY. INNOVATION.

It’s all fundamental to who we are and what we should and must even become. It’s too not important and essential to acknowledge the past—that which has profoundly made us who we are—but the hope and potential of how we shall shape the future. While—as the primary Artist and Entrepreneur—it’s my job to set the tone, vision, mission and direction for the enterprise, I’m striving also to stay honest and true to who I am and those experiences that have made and shaped me with a pure intention for addressing the future.

As social media has become a cornerstone of identity and culture nowadays, I believe People of Color, Ethnicity and Culture must not sign our souls away for the hope of becoming more. We must move beyond the confines of the definitions and expectations of this world to get back to more natural paradigms and perspectives. We’ve lost our connections to spirituality and nature in favor of commercialization and capitalism. As I envision a world for People of Color that is stepped in spirituality and community, I also see the presence of nature and technology to compel us towards greater and greater goals and objectives.

In creating lately, here are the ideas, concepts, theories and philosophies I’ve been playing around with;

Something Like Afrofuturism

Reimagining the future through Black and Brown cultural lenses by blending ethnicity, science fiction, spirituality, history with African diasporic knowledge, wisdom, aesthetic, and empowerment. I believe that the facts of the designed and applied torment and struggle of the African American—including those within the them—help to illuminate and justify the speciality of who and what we are therefore to serve as the call to rise rather than submitting to an ever strategic diminishment and fall. - This includes and builds upon the use of symbolism, fashion-inspired, and tech-infused imagery that highlights African American (Black and Brown) identity and resilience with an intention for what was the past to inform the future. Stylized portraits and speculative design that projects the power, possibility and potential promise of impactful Black and Brown Futures.

Sankofa Principle (from Akan Philosophy)

“Go back and get it” — Looking to the past to inform the future (*…while using the ideas of the future to appreciate and celebrate the past). We must encourage retrieving the forgotten or suppressed while embarking on the journey into the undiscovered country that is the future. African, Latino and even Asian motifs, patterns and historical references in modern urban art and design. The use of photography to draw parallels or illuminate contrasts between past struggles and current realities. - Ancestral memory, cyclical time, cultural continuity and historical wisdom.

Music & Hip-Hop Aesthetic

Anchored in urban expression, the hip-hop aesthetic is rebellious, rhythmic, and raw often shaped by struggle, resistance and community storytelling. - The incorporation of graffiti styles, remix culture, streetwear, dance and lyrical themes mixed with an anticipation of what’s to come in the future. Visual sampling—like layering photos or design elements—as metaphor and message.

Critical Race Theory in Visual Culture

Race and systemic power influence representation. Identity and access or the lack thereof to the resources and means to resisting stereotypes and the offering or presentation of new narratives. - The effort is to create work that continues to challenge racial tropes and stereotypes while centering on Black and Brown humanity, nuance and complexity. To highlight systems of inequality and associated traumas without reducing subjects to trauma by being culturally to universally encouraging and empowering. - Representation, resistance, systematic critique, truth-telling, and expansive dialogue on the potential to affect the future.

Continuing With An Abstract Application

At a foundational level, I’m continuing to work with an abstract mindset therefore creative direction. What I’ve observed about this modern day is an over-indulgence on the physical form for and of People of Color in artwork and media. Because I believe there’s something substantial about “the abstract”—relying on the viewer to establish, create and extract their own ideas and concepts—there’s more room to encourage, inform and inspire deeper levels of thought and critical analysis. The incorporation of ideas and themes within creating abstract art compels me and any artist to think more creatively and intellectually with greater meaning and appreciation for the viewer to be their own potential creator.

CONTINUING WITH OUR PROJECTS!

We won’t be hinder by these matters of the day—we will continue on with the projects we’ve laid out . . . and more if needed and the opportunities suggest. As we further develop, we will push forward in developing works, products and services to encourage, inspire and empower. We’re not done because we’ve just begun! I am and we are LIAM IAN™.

📕: THE CONCEPT OF IDENTITY - Part II.

INTELLIGENCE. ETHNICITY. INNOVATION.

The importance of LIAM IAN™ is and has been to signify change and transition. Growth and development adhering to a sophisticated pride and drive for being Black—African American and a Man of Color, Ethnicity and Culture. As 2024 was dedicated to “The Dichotomy of…” telling and revealing those dual aspects of who I am, have been and strive to become. 2025 must move beyond just my concepts and ideas to include those of others. The opportunity we see in 2025 is a return to the idea that Art is and must be related to Social Justice and Reform. The attempt to redevelop and evolve the ideas and concepts of Black and Brown People beyond what they are and have become today.

We believe in the potential and capacity of Black and Brown People to lead communities, societies and the world beyond what has been defined for us today. Products of economic, societal and commercial conditions, we find ourselves standing at a place where not only Social Justice must be addressed but Self Identity must as well.

As we work to get more and more into our local communities, we’re reviewing plans to [1] help sponsor and curate exhibits for unconventional and innovative Artworks, [2] launch (or relaunch) a Design consultancy that focuses on high-end progressive Afro and Afro-American ideologies and standards, and [3] develop a Photography service platform that adds to a portfolio for capturing subjects and individuals that should hold significant progressive value to redefining and affecting the culture itself. With Ai and Videography as platforms being worked out, these platforms are slated to compliment and assist all others.

As the goal is still in developing content, media and other IP assets to further encourage and empower People and Communities of Color, Ethnicity and Culture, 2025 must see a broadening and widening of our ability and scope to produce. While we’re in business we recognize that we can’t be in it for the revenues but to create. To create in catering to our communities. To create in order to innovate and change the narrative of what is, what was and what can be. We’re in it to create and to then bring to market then those creations with honesty and integrity to who and what we are…after we’ve the done the work to become a recognizable part of local communities.

TRUTH TO WHO LIAM IAN IS.

STILL COMPLICATED: MATURE YET IMMATURE. HOOD YET REFINED. EDUCATED YET STILL LEARNING. LOOKING OUTWARD TO IMPROVE THE INSIDE.

The fact is that I’m still going to be the Man that I am—the Artist that I am. A Black Man with Ambition, Vision, Mission and Intention to Create. While I’m used to taking risks, I’m continuing on to take on more and more to create what I’ve always wanted to manifest. Whether identified as toxic or visionary, my core goals remain in creating those works that have informed my identity and place within the world; a Fortunate and Free Black Man. It is my right and my duty to create. It’s my right and my duty to create because there are so many others like me that do not have abilities and resources to do. I’ve survived a lot. I’ve seen a lot. I’ve experienced and have loved a lot that would’ve or might’ve otherwise seen my end, diminishment or even incarceration…but I’m a father now. I’m a father and a husband and a figure within my community.

Yes, I’m Blessed…but even in being blessed I’m willing to take the risks to continue that journey and exploration of me. I’m willing to confront and challenge the societal norms experience that variety dimensions an Artist and Creative has the potential to exist within. If you know…then you know.

What does this mean? It means more and more ideas. It even means Innovative and Mature Projects…and Content.

ART & SOCIAL JUSTICE

In planning new projects for 2025, we’re anticipating the many opportunities that will exists. We want to showcase the complexity of issues that continue to plague the Black and Brown communities as a way to further highlight the strengths and pros. Within Art, in general we want to develop and feature works and individuals that truly push the envelope to redefining People of Color in profound and positive ways. As we eventually get into Design, we want to do the same with a focus on how cultural identity plays a part in things from commercial communication to environmental aesthetic language. Using Photography and Videography to capture these moments, we’ll also be using those forms to help reinforce the journey.

FUCK THE RULES.

I MAKE THE RULES. I make the rules because this life is to be one masterpiece amongst many. “THE CREATIVITY OF LIFE” is a concept and philosophy that is very important to me.

The philosophy of "The Creativity of Life" is what I believe to be almost the single most important aspect of perceiving and understanding life. Its a concept that celebrates the inherent creative potential within every aspect of existence. It emphasizes that life itself is a dynamic and ever-evolving process, urging us to embrace our own creative instincts and engage with the world in a transformative and imaginative manner. This philosophy I’ve customized to fit my life, my paradigms and who I am encourages us to recognize the interconnectedness of all things and to actively participate in shaping our own experiences and the world around us through creative expression.

1. Embracing the Creative Spirit:

"The Creativity of Life" philosophy invites us to acknowledge and embrace the creative spirit that resides within each of us. It recognizes that creativity is not limited to artists and innovators but is an intrinsic aspect of being human. By nurturing our creative instincts, we can tap into our unique abilities to imagine, innovate, and bring forth new ideas, perspectives, and solutions.

2. Seeing the World as a Canvas:

This philosophy encourages us to view the world as a canvas waiting to be shaped and transformed. It invites us to engage with our surroundings with a sense of curiosity and wonder, seeking inspiration in the ordinary and finding beauty in unexpected places. By recognizing the creative potential in every moment, we can infuse our lives with meaning and purpose.

3. Embracing Change and Growth:

"The Creativity of Life" philosophy recognizes that life is a process of continuous change and growth. It encourages us to embrace this inherent dynamism and to approach challenges and transitions with a creative mindset. By adapting, learning, and evolving, we can navigate the ebb and flow of life's ever-changing landscape and unlock new possibilities for personal and collective transformation.

4. Cultivating Authenticity and Self-Expression:

This philosophy emphasizes the importance of authenticity and self-expression. It encourages us to tap into our innermost passions, values, and beliefs, allowing them to guide our creative endeavors. By expressing ourselves honestly and authentically, we not only honor our true nature but also inspire others to do the same, fostering a culture of creativity and individuality.

5. Fostering Connection and Collaboration:

"The Creativity of Life" philosophy recognizes that creativity thrives in a collaborative and interconnected environment. It encourages us to seek meaningful connections with others, valuing diverse perspectives and fostering collaboration. By sharing ideas, supporting each other's creative endeavors, and engaging in collective creativity, we can co-create a richer and more vibrant world.:

"The Creativity of Life" philosophy invites us to embrace our innate creative potential, view the world through a lens of curiosity and wonder, and actively participate in shaping our experiences and the world around us. By cultivating our creativity, embracing change, expressing ourselves authentically, and fostering connections, we can live lives that are vibrant, meaningful, and transformative. Let this philosophy serve as a reminder to embrace the creative energy that flows through all aspects of life and to channel it into a force for personal growth, connection, and positive change.

Taking notes from those who came before me, I aspire to have my actions and activities, works and products to encourage and inspire others. While I seek personal progress and development thru incremental measurable successes avoiding the compulsions for grand levels of social recognition and titles, I further seek to be positions to empower others. It is our creativity that defines us. It is our creativity that has defined and continues to define reality. It is our ability to reshape what we see, taste, hear, and feel to bring or construct an understanding of the world before us. We can define setting laws, order and governance to who we are and our individual to collective worlds out of the chaos that has been and is continually presented to us.

Out of everything I’ve experienced within this life, I see my life as a canvas and tapestry. It is a grand studio managed by an open-air office. It is a kingdom fit for one yet others but full with treasures that only reside in dark corners. I exist to create but had to learn much to have gotten to this point. Now as I continue to evolve ascending to higher heights and continue to create, I work with others to do the same.
