No More Ropes. Don't Forget About the Chains.
A Need to Move Above and Beyond.
The fact of the matter for me is that in my opinion, African Americans are anchored and stuck in place running in place because of what we hold on to so fiercely and dearly…which is in being “Black”. Living and striving to adhere to this term of “Black”. While it’s even understood that the idea and concept of “Black” was a term established and coined by White scholars to formalize the distinction between those that were pure White and those that were not. A term coined by the White is a term—seemingly the definitive term—that people all across the world have to come to acknowledge. Black and Blackness and everything else that comes with is what needs to be challenged. This is what needs to change. The overhaul that needs to happen needs to happen to such a degree that is perhaps shakes the foundations of everything that they’ve strived to construct for us.
There’s a lot within the African American communities that seem to sow some sort of division at some point in time or another. The fact that because of our diversity, we are left complicated over nuanced is a misnomer and is purely based upon perception but that or those perceptions are and become significant to those within it.
