FINE TUNING THINGS SO IT ALL MAKES SENSE TO THE COMMUNITIES WE WANT TO BE IN AND BE FOR!

I’ve learned recently that I’ve made something of a substantial departure from what and where I started with intention for where and what I wanted to be. I’ve allowed things to get far and away from the initial ideas and intended endgame goals. What I also understand is that this is a normal part of the process of success. Success isn’t something that happens overnight nor does it happen in a straight single line. In business—especially if you are also the primary artist—wires will get crossed and things will be dropped. No one person can do and be everything…even if they think they can…even if they have help.

“URBAN THOUGHTS” - by Liam Ian Black

REMEMBERING WHAT IT’S ALL ABOUT.

Friends have helped me review, recap and recover ideas that I had long forgotten about. Of these were the dream of being the brand name of luxury items that people would have. Within their homes or on their person, I wanted to be a name that meant something to People of Color representing Intelligence, Ethnicity and Innovation within Art, Design, and yes, Photography. I’ve had no aspiration of shooting parties or other affairs because I call myself a Photographer. No. I’ve just wanted to create. Creating thru Art, Design and Photography, my goal was to produce goods that would represent and symbolize the best of Black and Brown Individuals, Identities, Cultures and Communities. Somehow…I’ve lost this. I’ve lost this and even gotten lost in everything done to actually do it. Now…

I believe in the potential of Black and Brown People. I believe in Black and Brown People with a specific focus on African Americans and African American Communities. It’s thru all that I’ve encountered, endured and survived that have led me to the person I am today. While not perfect, I’m pretty okay. I’ve been afforded many things—including wisdom thru pain, sorrow and hardship—and so I feel the urgency and priority and responsibility to pass on what I know to one of the most deserving, impactful and significant communities to ever exist, that of the African American.

INTELLIGENCE. ETHNICITY. INNOVATION.

These three words—to me—totally represent and embody what it is to be an African American. Black and Brown. Light-skinned and dark-chocolate. Short and tall. Celebrity and not, what it is to African American is to of a heritage that no one else could ever come close to. While other words like Resilient, Enduring and Dynamic can easily be among those to convey and conjure the spirit of African Americans, it’s truly what has come to light about the power, potential and promise of African Americans out of centuries of oppression and death that inspire the words we’ve chosen.

The matter of LIAM IAN™ / LIAM IAN LLC™ is to create products and services that help to enhance, inform and even appreciate the greatest of possibility for Black and Brown Communities and Cultures. Wall Art, Digital Designs, Wall Art Photography, the goal is to create those static items and goods that go the way of creating, enhancing and defining someone’s world. Decor and apparel. The goal is to create and manifest a better world…or at least the potential of.

And then it became so much more.

Thru Entrepreneurship and Art and everything else, I discovered I was and am capable of so much more. Because of what I’ve learned and even the uniqueness of who I am, I discovered that there’s been so much more beneath the surface. Yes. I learned about William B. Philpot IV making a more complete transition into the artistic persona of Liam Ian Black. And with that knowledge tied with ambition, things became…bloated and over bloated.

With a greater push to end 2025 out on a profoundly positive note, planning for 2026 has already begun.

CONNECTIONS & CORRECTIONS

It truly is about connection—not connection to others exactly but more connection to each creative and operational category. It’s about alignment to those core agendas and intentions that we began with—that I began with. The correction is to steer away from those activities that haven’t had too much to do with what was initially intended to come back to a place of revealing and sharing all that is and has been Liam Ian Black. Urban themes mixed the complexity and sophistication that has me the unique being that I am. Deep and rich colors; Black and Browns, Silvers and Golds. Deep reds, greens and blues and everything else that is rooted at my core. No matter the category, it’s to showcase who and what I am as an African American Man surviving all that I have and counting it all as blessings to the life I live today.

*Especially when in business, take pride in your mistakes as well as your successes. Don’t be afraid to take chances and push the limits a bit…even if it seems to not make sense. Follow your gut instincts and get creative because if you’re not solving a problem, you should be bringing something fresh and brand new to market. This is a part of the artistry of being an entrepreneur. This is a part of the artistry of being an artist in entrepreneurship. Especially if you’re an artist or true creative, nothing is certain. Nothing is certain…but you just keep reworking the formulas until something hits.
